Overview:

The work consists of a theoretical and a practical part.

The Master Thesis develops a critical outlook on our future based on the history of social changes in context of the development of electronic communication. Based on this I show dangers in current developments but also propose ways to merge the best of both worlds. (Download Thesis PDF ).

The questions raised can be explored first hand with the interactive installation. The experimental approach invites to playfully develop a critical attitude towards the technology behind the shiny shell.

The installation consists of a mobile Terminal an a Web interface. The terminal is aware of its position in space and generates an Information-Meta-Layer with its Layer which is mapped onto the world in three dimensions. Information objects and structures can be placed and edited in 3d Space.

The Web interface, a fully navigable 3d-Model of the exhibition space, is synchronized in real time with the terminal. It's possible to enter the space as an avatar and to interact and communicate with the terminal and other avatars in real time.
